Center is a non-profit agency working to end domestic and sexual
violence in Lamoille County. CHNC provides shelter, support, and direct
services to survivors as well as preventative outreach programs. CHNC
works to affect social change within our communities through increased
public awareness. If you have an interest in ending violence in Lamoille
County and in supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence and
their children, please attend the Clarina Howard Nichols Center
Volunteer Training. Lamoille Community Food Share is looking for volunteers to help at our pantry as well as drivers to pick up purchases from area stores and the Vermont Foodbank. Our greatest needs are night managers and weekend day managers- both positions receive a stipend. For more information please call Shannon at 888-2585. River Arts is looking for volunteers to assist with three summer camps: On the Rise arts camp, Skate the Arts at the Johnson Skate Park, and African Culture Day Camp. People that would like to volunteer will: assist the teachers, help with registrations in the morning, and help during lunch and break times. Carpenters Wanted - Local area non-profits are looking for volunteer carpenters to help area non profits with projects ranging from building shelving to painting to light sheetrock work. If you can help with one or all of these needs. The Lamoille County Reparative Board is seeking volunteer to serve on the Reparative Board. This is a board that works with offenders to come up with a contract to repay the community for he wrong that they have done. Training will be offered through out the summer. Persons interested are encouraged to attend one of the Reparative Boards public meetings first. Meals on Wheels is looking for drivers who are willing to deliver meal to elders and the disabled. There is a need for drivers for many of the routes and for help in the kitchen. Routs take between 1.5 to 2 hours. Lamoille Valley Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, sponsored by the University of Vermont, is seeking volunteers to plan, organization, and implement educational seminars. This program provides learning opportunities for people 50 and better who are interested in challenging and exciting ideas. visit www.learn.uvm.edu/osher for more information Lamoille County Bone Builders will be starting classes this fall we are looking for volunteers to assist with the organization, planning an implementation. Bone Builders is a local educational/ exercise program to help fight the effects of osteoporosis. Second Chance is looking for volunteers that are willing to help at the thrift shop. Duties include ringing up customer’s purchases, sorting and pricing clothes. Volunteers are encouraged to commit to scheduled hours. Copley Hospital Library - We are looking for a creative, energetic person to help copying journal articles, information searches and help with the bulletin board at the hospital library. Volunteer should be comfortable with computers, an able to type.
