The Church Springfield, Massachusetts is “known” to be a little rough around the edges. Last week I had the pleasure of visiting the city and some of its landmarks. Work sent me down for some training. I was in class for eight hours a day for a week of lectures. Eight hours a day will send anyone through the roof, I promise. I have to admit, it was a little hard to find the motivation to get out and explore, but I was glad once I did. Springfield was clean and very quiet, all the rumors and presumed thoughts I had went out the window as soon as I started walking around. Whenever I visit a city, I find that walking the streets and getting lost is the best way to find cool stuff. I was very excited to stumble upon the Dr. Seuss Museum, and all the character statues. I am sure you remember “Green Eggs & Ham” “Cat in the Hat” and, of course, “The Grinch That Stole Christmas” I highly recommend the museum, it offers a day of walking around and it’s a great area to take photos. The rest of the city offers great parks and old colonial buildings with stunning water fountains. The city itself rests next to the Connecticut River, which I was able to watch the sun set over. There are three colleges and from what I could tell, they have quite the night life scene. My co-worker Tom and I took a detour into one of the local bars; it was a very good BBQ restaurant called Theodore’s Boozes, Blues and BBQ’s. I recommend the Gumbo… Cat in the Hat the Fountain Umpa and the Grinch |
