Pot Growing Operation Busted

The Lamoille County Sheriff's Department has announced the arrest of
Adam N. Vespo, 34, of Johnson. LCSD Deputy Christopher L. Paquette, in
conjunction with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from
Burlington and Derby Line and the Vermont State Police, executed a
court-ordered search warrant at Vespo's residence, located at 155 Maple
Hill Road in Johnson.
The search uncovered an indoor marijuana growing operation, including 57
plants, ranging from seedlings to mature, market-ready specimens. Also
seized were a number of firearms, including one Uzi and two AR-15
assault-style rifles. Tests are pending with the A.T.F. to determine
whether the weapons were semi, or fully automatic, in which case federal
charges could be applied. Additionally, $7,764. in cash was discovered
during the search, along with a 2004 Honda four wheeler with trailer.
Vespo was charged with felony possession/cultivation of marijuana. He
will appear in Lamoille District Court in February, 2005.
Lamoille County Sheriff Roger Marcoux, Jr., told the News & Citizen, "We
may be busy dealing with heroin and coke cases, and due to a lack of
resources it may take us a bit longer than we'd like, but we're not
going to stop pursuing the people that are trafficking in marijuana."
