by AJ de Saint Phalle

HYDE PARK - Lamoille County Sheriff Roger Marcoux Jr. has announced a
successful conclusion to his search for a Wolcott woman recently
reported missing. The search ended Thursday, November 18, around 3 p.m.
E.S.T. when the Nebraska Highway Patrol apprehended the fugitive David
LaBounty. LaBounty's vehicle was located in the vicinity of Interstate
80 in Grand Island, NE. The missing woman was a passenger in the
vehicle. The missing woman was briefly hospitalized and then returned
safely home. A second male, also a passenger in the vehicle, was not
wanted on any charges and was released.
The sheriff revealed that the F.B.I. has now become involved in the case
due to the possibility that the woman was kidnapped by LaBounty, who
remains incarcerated in Nebraska. He is currently facing extradition
proceedings related to his escape status in Vermont. Marcoux credited
the U.S. Marshal Service fugitive division for their invaluable assistance.
