Man Arrested for Child Porn
by Ben Hogwood

An Eden man, arrested and charged with possession of child pornography
and possession of marijuana, was arraigned at the Lamoille County
Courthouse on Monday, October 11.
Bruce Podbielski, 47, was held due to a lack of $25,000 bail.
According to the police affidavit, Vermont State Trooper Todd Baxter
executed a search warrant on Podbielski's North Road residence on April
30 for a suspected indoor marijuana grow operation. During the search,
Baxter was prompted to inquire about the possibility of child
pornography on Podbielski's computer due to items he saw in plain view
not described in the affidavit. Podbielski responded that there may be
such material on the computer that others have e-mailed him. He gave a
written consent to have police seize and search the computer.
Police found over 135 images of child pornography on the computer.
Podbielski stated he was going to turn over the pictures to John Walsh
of "America's Most Wanted" to help with "the problem," states the
affidavit.
Podbielski also stated that he has been running a new website business,
which prompted Baxter to inquire whether he had a new computer, which he
did. Baxter asked if he could search the computer and Podbielski again
gave a written consent, emphatically stating that he is "not into child
porn." More pictures were found.
Police searched the residence again and retrieved several items which
will be reviewed at a later date, states the affidavit.
