Eden Men Accused of Cocaine Offenses
by Amy Kolb Noyes
Two Eden men have been indicted on federal drug charges. David
McAllister, 44, and Dirk Adams, 42, were arrested this week by agents of
the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the Lamoille County
Sheriff's Department. Both men were handed down a six count indictment,
by a federal grand jury, accusing them of conspiracy to distribute
cocaine and cocaine distribution.
McAllister was arrested Monday, July 19, and pled not guilty to all
charges. He has since been released on bail. Adams was arrested Tuesday,
July 20, and was scheduled to be arraigned the following day.
The indictment alleges the two men conspired to distribute cocaine
between March and September 2003. The indictment also claims one or both
of the accused distributed cocaine on five separate occasions.
The arrests are the result of a joint investigation involving the
Lamoille County Sheriff's Department and the DEA. If convicted, the
defendants face a maximum prison term of 20 years (each) and fines of up
to $1,000,000 per count.
