Lanpher Library to Get Completed
by Ben Hogwood

Electricians have already begun work at the Lanpher Memorial Library in
Hyde Park, after taxpayers unanimously authorized the town to borrow
$75,000 at a special meeting on Tuesday, June 29.
The money will be financed over a five year period.
Julia Compagna, administrative officer for Hyde Park, said that with
this money, along with the bequeathing of one quarter of the estate of
Elsie Roddy, the town will be able to complete the library's construction.
"We're very excited," said Librarian Amy Masi. She said the sight of
workers back in the building is boosting everybody's morale.
The Lanpher Library Board of Trustees has been planning to add to the
library for the past 15 years. Fundraising began two years ago and,
despite not having the complete amount, construction began, giving those
who donated the opportunity to see their money going to work.
The total cost for the project is approximately $325,000. While the
library will continue fundraising to make up for the money borrowed,
taxpayers will likely pay a portion of that money, said Ken Harvey, a
member of the Hyde Park Selectboard, in a previous interview.
Between 40 and 50 people attended the special meeting.
