Damn Yankees Sing for Expos

by Amy Kolb Noyes

BURLINGTON - It's been a big month for the Lamoille Valley at Centennial
Field, home of the Vermont Expos. The Tuesday, June 22 game featured a
"Dinkie Logger Contest," where kids came dressed as Rusty Dewees' alter
ego, The Logger. On Monday, June 28, The Lamoille County Players cast of
this summer's musical Damn Yankees sang the national anthem as the Expos
hosted the Staten Island Yankees. Craftsbury's Bill "Spaceman" Lee cast
out the first pitch.
Although the Expos fell to Staten Island 6-3 in the last night of a
three-game series, the Players helped to keep spirits up in the stands.
Small groups of the cast were heard occasionally breaking into song. In
the eighth inning, Dean Burnell, Roger Hamel, Doug McGown and Ed Cram
serenaded Ashley Sweeney, Miss Vermont National Teen. The impromptu
barbershop quartet sang "It's You" from The Music Man.
The cast members who rendered the national anthem to the crowd at
Centennial Field were: Emily Bickford, Trevor Braun, Carley Coolidge, Ed
Cram, Alan Curtis, Kelly Daige, Jen Desrochers, Kim Dunkley, Marcel
Freda, Erik Freeman, Dave Gabaree, Roger Hamel, Lori Lisai, Doug McGown,
Linda Milton, Charlotte Munson, Josiah Pearsall, Chris Persico, Enid
Rosenblum, Kim Shonio, Amena Smith, Frank Springer, John
Springer-Miller, Valerie Valcour and Greg Wells. Also joining the chorus
were Producer Mort Butler and Director Dean Burnell.
Damn Yankees opens at the Hyde Park Opera House on Thursday, July 22.
Performances will be given July 22 through 25 and July 29 through August
