I have been working for the News & Citizen, Inc.'s papers off and on,
but mostly on, since the early 1980s and have been working as a
journalist for longer than that. Some would say far, far longer...
Never having had a job in the field for which I was educated - geography
- I drifted like a loose tectonic plate, and tried my hand at several
occupations, including truck driver, ambulance attendant, railroad
gandy-dancer, bill collector, carpenter, typesetter, and movie theater
owner. In the end, the lure of reporting which includes the pleasure of
meeting stimulating people and learning exciting new facts just about
every day got me seated at a newsroom desk. Hmm... maybe I should use
more maps on the front page?
