MORRISTOWN – The long-awaited opening of Tractor Supply in Morrisville has finally arrived. On Saturday, September 14 the Grand Opening Ceremony and ribbon cutting was held beginning at 7:30 a.m. The store officially opened for business on September 7 with a soft opening, with the Grand Opening weekend taking place on September 12 through the 15.
“Morrisville is a good location for Tractor Supply Company because it’s [Lamoille County] in the largest–growing county in Vermont, and our products fit the needs of the community,” said Store Manager Ron Lackey. “We have a variety of products for everyone. Our knowledgeable, friendly team is excited to provide Tractor Supply’s legendary customer service to our neighbors. We’d love for our neighbors in the area to come by and see us.”
Lackey has worked for Tractor Supply since 2011 as the assistant store manager at the Montpelier Tractor Supply store. The Morrisville location is the seventh Tractor Supply store in the state.
Along with the ribbon cutting, the events on Saturday included informational sessions by the local 4-H group and the UVM Extension on tractors’ safety bars. A children’s tractor pull was also held, and grilled food was prepared by members of the Hyde Park VFW. The proceeds from the sale of the food was donated by the VFW to the local 4-H. Additional attractions for the day included antique tractors, a hay press, and lawn mowers for customers to demo. As part of the grand opening celebration customers received various discounts over the opening weekend.
The new Morrisville store, which is located at 88 Center Road, is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday. The 19,097 square foot facility, which includes a sales floor and support service space, is matched by a similarly sized outside area given over to the outdoor display and storage of various equipment and supplies.
The parking lot for the store is set to be able to accommodate a total of 85 vehicles, with just one customer entrance and exit that accesses Center Road. In total the store employs 13 individuals.
Work at the site of the new store began in April when the general contractor for the job, Benchmark Construction of Westbrook, Maine, began large-scale grading. Construction was completed in August with additional site work, including the installation of a sidewalk along Route 15 and Center Road in front of and beside the store, taking place at that time. The truck exit for the store is located behind the building, giving access to Center Road where it creates a four-way intersection with Langdell Road.
