Peoples Academy Junior Katie Stames has been named Vermont’s representative on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America High School All-American team.
The PA forward joins 80 other girls from around the country on the prestigious list. She is one of only 20 representatives who were not in their senior year.
With 43 goals on the season, Stames was an integral cog in the undefeated PA Wolves’ machine, which won their second state championship in a row. She scored four in the championship game.
Along with being named to the All-American team, she was one of Vermont’s three representatives on the All-New England squad. Locally she was named to the first team for the Capital League and was named to both the Burlington Free Press and Times Argus’ first teams as well.
The NSCAA is the world’s largest soccer coaches association and serves coaches at all levels of play.
