Splice Malfunction Causes Morrisville Power Outage

With temperatures hovering in the 20 below zero Fahrenheit range, many Morrisville residents found themselves without power early Saturday morning.

Morrisville Water & Light Manager Craig Myotte said a splice in the line pulled apart near Bourne’s old office space on the Randolph Road, causing the outage at about 2:30 a.m.  He said the cold temperatures made the wires contract and loosened up the splice.

Myotte said it was only one of three phases, so while it affected Washington Highway (up to about the hospital) and Congress Street (along with the adjoining side streets), it may have not affected all houses as different houses may be on different phases to balance the load.

Power was restored at about 6:30 that morning.
