Residents of Cambridge will soon have the opportunity to see and visit their new fire station. On Saturday, December 15, an open house will be held at the newly completed station on Church Street.
The official dedication of the new building will be occurring at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and tours of the station will be available throughout the day beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. A special stop by Santa will also be made to the station at 1 p.m. and any children wishing to visit him can do so at that time.
Work on the station began earlier in 2012 after voters approved the building of the station late in 2011. Construction work continued on schedule at the site throughout the spring, summer, and fall despite a few setbacks regarding contaminated soil that had to be remedied.
