The newly opened Green Mountain Psychiatric Care Center continues taking patients and staying near capacity, a few weeks after opening.
Jeff Rothenberg, CEO of the new hospital located in the Lamoille Community Connections building on Harrel Street, said when they first opened on January 2, they incrementally, by two’s, increased the number of patients they accepted in order to allow them to make sure everything was working as planned.
Officially they can have up to eight patients, but he said there were some issues with the furniture in one of the rooms so they can only accept seven for the time being.
He said they have been at a count of six patients for about a week.
The hospital is being used as a temporary solution for the shortage of space created with the closing of the Waterbury complex. The Morristown facility was the first to be opened, but others are planned around the state. These temporary sites are to be used until the new Berlin facility can be completed.
