Things Look This Way to Me
Editorial by J.B. McKinley 4/5/07
April Fool’s
Rushing to print to get the news to you as soon as possible,
our sister newspaper, The Transcript, has already broken the April 1 news story
about the Phineas T. Studebaker Award!
We know many readers out there wait each spring for the
traditional tongue in cheek story or stories. We also know a few folks got
fooled – at least for a minute. For whatever embarassment or other anguish was
experienced, we apologize, but urge everyone to be aware of where we are on the
calendar next spring.
Calls have already been coming in here at the paper
wondering just how the all horse thing is going to work in Morrisville. We think
we’ve been had too, by one person who offered to donate a few horses to the new
effort! Mary Ann Wilson, over at the Morristown Clerk’s office has been assuring
those who walked in the door, or have phoned, that The Transcript story is an
April Fool’s prank. In fact, all those people quoted in the story were
contacted, were good sports and furnished quotes to bolster the story.
We hope you had a bit of a laugh, and don’t blame those darn
politicians for wasting those millions! Yes, The Transcript story in the April 2
edition is not true, genuine or authentic. It’s a little leg puller we hope you
enjoyed.
