The first annual 4-H Family Fun Day was held last Saturday, October 8, at Saddle Up Stables, in Johnson. Family members of all ages enjoyed the many games including the Lifesaver pass, where two teams competed to pass a Lifesaver down the line, toothpick-to-toothpick. Here brothers Justin and Travis Foster, ages 17 and 11, attempt a hand-off while their mother (and 4-H leader) Vicki Foster cheers them on.      Noyes photo

Money for Terrill Gorge Purchase
by Amy Kolb Noyes
MORRISVILLE If all goes as planned, the Vermont River Conservancy will have purchased the Stagecoach Road access to Terrill Gorge by the end of this month. VRC will then turn ownership of the wooded 10.1 acre parcel over
to the Vermont Department of Fish & Wildlife, thus preserving public access to the popular swimming hole and to fishing waters on Kenfield Brook. VRC, at the request of the Morristown Conservation Commission and others, and with the support of the selectboard, initiated a fundraising campaign to purchase the parcel from a pair of Stowe-based developers. The developers, operating as Kenfield Brook Properties LLC, planned to subdivide the wooded parcel into three house lots. Kenfield Brook Properties also has a proposal before the Morristown Development Review Board to subdivide the neighboring 12 acre field into  six house lots. A DRB decision on that subdivision application is expected this week. Continued on Page 2
