Wolcott Sets New Bond Vote
by Amy Kolb Noyes
The Wolcott School Board has decided to try again to bond for an
addition to the Wolcott Elementary School and community library. The
board plans to sign a warning at its next meeting on Wednesday, January 26.
School Director DJ Masi said the board, at this week's meeting, decided
to hold the next bond vote Town Meeting Day. The vote will likely be
held by Australian ballot. Masi said the board plans to trim $100,000
from the project. The last vote asked for a $2,881,227 bond toward a
$3.65 million project. Masi said the board has decided to cut parking
lot paving and some other areas yet to be determined.
Masi said the board decided against making significant changes to the
addition and renovation plans because such changes "would significantly
cut back on the state aid that would be allowed." The state has pledged
$668,773 in construction aid to the project as designed.
